Launching the Nordic Futures Knowledge Cloud

– powered by EdCast and Nordic Futures

Oslo Opera, June 12th 2018

Brunvold Room, 1:30 – 3:30

“Innovators, educators and policymakers need to talk better together and I do not think that is only a case in Norway”, says Oddgeir Tveiten. He is part of a team that will be launching a new learning experience platform on June 12th, in the Oslo Opera. An international network of researchers and innovators are in Norway to participate in the launch.

“Digital technologies are impacting on society in completely new ways. Relations between higher education and work life are changing. I think what we need the most in the Nordic countries is a sense of new collaboration between innovators, educators and policy-makers and that is what this project will help us enable”.

The partnership to be launched is called Nordic Futures and will consist of stakeholders across all the Nordic countries. As part of the launch, the founder and CEO of EdCast Karl Mehta will be in Norway to speak at two conferences and demonstrate the EdCast Learning Experience platform.

“EdCast enables Learning and Development teams to innovate at massive scale and build an agile and smart workforce. It does so by building a culture of life-long learning and utilizing Artificial Intelligence to provide timely, customized lessons to improve performance on a daily basis”, says Karl Mehta, founder and CEO of EdCast.

A key challenge in an age of information overload is information relevance. The research network and group has for a long time looked for alternative solutions to meeting that challenge. Future Learning Lab found a partner in EdCast in 2015 and has continued their collaboration.

“This opportunity has excited us. We have been working with the Nordic innovations community in Silicon Valley since then,” says Tveiten.

The Nordic Futures project is a collaboration between EdCast, Future Learning Lab, Open Innovation Lab of Norway and other stakeholders. Nordic collaboration involving EdTech, societal digitalization and learning innovations has been growing. What has yet to emerge is a truly inter-Nordic arena for collaboration on knowledge sharing, information and capacity building. This is what we seek to achieve with the Nordic Futures project, an explorative project using the EdCast Learning Experience Platform.

The team behind Nordic Futures consists of the network of scholars and entrepreneurs collaborating in the Future Learning Lab, stakeholders in the World Learning Summit — our annual conference, and the team from EdCast. Our goal is to expand these networks to include the future shaping networks in all Nordic countries, alongside key stakeholders in companies, the public sector, education institutions and more.
